The Teacher Voice is often overused. For some coaches, the Teacher becomes a means to validate their identity as competent and wise—attachments that invariably cloud the coach’s ability to see the client clearly.
The Teacher is inherently neutral. There is no impetus from the Teacher toward action. (Encouraging a client’s motivation to act, if and when this seems necessary, is the province of the action-oriented Guide, the topic of the next chapter.)
