ARE YOU READY TO MENTOR?
The process of mentoring effectively can be learned and, as with most skills, the more frequently the use the more the improvement. Still, before you make the decision to become a mentor it is useful to consider which of the attributes of a good mentor you currently have and what it might take to develop others. Without at least a number of these attributes to ground you in your development as a mentor, you may find that it is too difficult to fulfill the varied and challenging responsibilities that will be asked of you. These responsibilities include everything from managing time and problem solving to skillfully brokering relationships, coaching, and conflict management.
