Managing the Training Function

If you are doing all the training yourself, there is not much training management involved. However, when you have trainers or facilitators inside and outside the organization, someone has to manage the training function the same way other functions are managed. It might be more productive to hire someone to run that function and report back to you so that you can concentrate on other aspects of the operation. In either case, it is critical to have the following in place:

•   A list of the organization’s defined needs

•   A strategy for all training (short, mid, and long term)

•   A strategy for training personnel, hiring, and retention

•   An infrastructure for administrative support (if needed)
