The growth and development meeting a manager has with every individual employee is the most important meeting of the year having to do with employee development, so he or she must give the meeting their full and undivided attention. The meeting should be private and not be interrupted for any reason. The manager must not multitask, be late, or cut it short out of respect for the employee. If the work environment makes a highly focused, uninterrupted meeting impossible, then the manager should schedule the meeting off-site.
