Learning Styles

Every leader must know about learning styles and be able to recognize them. Each of us is born with or adapts to a learning style that we have a preference for. We may not even be aware of it, but it exists.

There are three main learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Most of us learn in all three ways and even have a preference for one specific style, but there are many people who can only learn one way. Let’s look at these learning styles in a little more detail by focusing on the learner.

The “visual” learner. Visual learners learn by seeing the world. They learn by reading and seeing pictures, diagrams, illustrations, and so on. Visual learners tend to love video and even slide shows or PowerPoint presentations. ...
