Accountability for Results Starts with You

The word accountability is freely bandied about in the business world, so let me nail it down in fairly simple terms:

Accountability is the connection between intention and action—it connects what you say you’ll do to what actually gets done. It brings structure, focus, and clarity to business relationships. It is your promise and obligation to yourself and to the people around you to deliver specific, defined results. People who are accountable are aware of and are willing to live with the positive and negative consequences of their actions and inactions. If they want different consequences, they take different actions.

Accountability for results starts with accountability for accountability!
