In the consulting world, time is not money—time is time. Value is money. Let me explain several kinds of value so that we can assign some specific behaviors to that mysterious word.

Data value. Information, data, and research that consultants create, find, or share that connect directly with the business challenge you are working to solve. (Or another challenge that is important to your organization but is unrelated to the project immediately at hand. Imagine that!)

Experience value. The skills, tools, background, and expertise that your consultant has developed over the years that can be directly applied to your current situation, but that otherwise would be very difficult to develop internally. For example, master ...
