Pearl Clover was a Manager at a software development company. Her section was responsible for creating a web interface for one of the company’s most popular products. One of her employees, Ben Farly, was deciding how to develop a particular service based on the limited information at Ben’s disposal. Ben wasn’t aware of a potential upcoming budget shortfall as well as the preference of upper management toward a particular course of action.
