Reading Others

Reading others means the ability to be aware of, understand, and appreciate the feelings of others.

Studies have found that when you show that you understand and appreciate others, they will reciprocate the feeling. Reading others creates a connectedness between people that leads to greater communication and effectiveness.

When we read others, we are able to tune in to the other person. Being able to read others means we can understand them better and respond to their needs or goals. Reading others builds trust. That is why it is crucial for an effective coaching relationship.

To fully receive the message others are sending, we need to:

1.  Let go of our personal agenda.

2.  Stay focused.
