Step B.Develop the goals and objectives

•   What it means:

—   Establishing direction, quantifiable milestones, and interdependencies

•   How it works:

—   Write 5–7 goals that support your mission

—   Develop 3–5 measurable objectives that support each goal

—   Identify interdependencies and potential conflicts

—   Estimate resource requirements

—   Establish rewards for accomplishments

The Idea

Goals and objectives further solidify the direction of the team. An effective team normally has five to seven goals that support the mission. Goals are generally directional statements that define a particular set of tasks required to achieve the mission. As we think about setting goals we can remember the acronym SMART.
