Think of your most immediate circle of friends and family members. Consider which of those individuals have the greatest influence over you. What is the reason—beyond the fact there is love involved? Is trust a factor? Integrity? Concern for their welfare? The knowledge that they are concerned about your own? Do they influence you with their ambition? With their cleverness? With their desire to think beyond their own needs?

Whatever praiseworthy elements exist within your closest circle, they can be applied to your outer circle of subordinates, peers, and upper management, but it will require considerable thought on your part to replicate influence-driven relationships in your personal realm to those in your professional realm.
