WRITING THE DRAFT

Now comes the fun part: writing. You need only refer to Chapter 4 for the fastwriting techniques: freewriting, freelisting, webbing, and freespeaking. To create a full-text draft immediately, you should use either freewriting or freespeaking. You must eventually convert the other two systems to a text; thus, they add another step to your process.

When you freewrite or freespeak, be careful to keep going, even if your words still need polishing. Keep pushing forward and, if possible, avoid reading your cards. Of course, you can refer to your notes, but to give your draft a fresh and natural tone, try to do this sparingly.
