EMPLOYMENT AT WILL

This is a doctrine stating that employment is at the will of the employer. Its basic premise is that either the employer or the employee can terminate the employment relationship at any time and for any or no reason or cause. A word of caution: Even at-will employees are modified by antidiscrimination laws such as ADA and ADEA. (See Documenting Employee Performance, HRD Press, 1998.)
