EEOC—EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION

This agency was created in 1964 with the passage of the Civil Rights Act. The EEOC is granted the authority to investigate claims of discrimination regarding vocational rehabilitation, equal pay, pregnancy discrimination, civil rights, the ADA, and the ADEA. If a claim is filed against an employer, this agency will send the employer a charge with the alleged violation and require the employer to respond to a number of questions so it can determine if an act of discrimination has taken place.
