Tips for Success:Motivation

1.  Remember, motivation is something internally generated. It is impossible to motivate someone else. But, you can create an environment where people find it easy to become motivated.

2.  Each day, commit to looking for what is going well, and recognizing those who are responsible for that success.

3.  Make the reward meaningful to the employee. People are motivated by different rewards. Tailor your praise, recognition, or other motivator to the specific recipient.

4.  Link your rewards to good performance.

5.  Ensure that the employee has the capabilities to do the task you are asking him or her to do.

6.  Administer rewards and feedback immediately following the positive behavior you desire.
