Tips for Success:Team Performance

1.  Great teams have a clear mission, vision, and great goals. Make sure your team has a common, challenging goal that makes team members stretch to reach it.

2.  Create an environment where the contributions of all team members are recognized and valued, not just the “stars.”

3.  Don’t oil the squeaky wheel. Value creativity. Recognize and reward those that challenge “the way we always do things around here.”

4.  Confront conflict. If you stick your head in the sand and deny it exists, remember what part of you is exposed!

5.  At every opportunity, try switching from being a directive leader to a team facilitator.

6.  Promote cross-training to multiply the number of “experts” on your team.
