Tips for Success:Performance Reviews

1.  Gather examples of performance, both positive and negative, throughout the year, not just the two weeks before the performance appraisal is due.

2.  Be positive. Remember to include documentation showing where the employee is doing a great job, not just in areas where there is room for improvement.

3.  Make sure you are familiar with all the performance standards and rating criteria for the job before conducting the review process with the employee.

4.  Plan your schedule so that you will not be interrupted when giving feedback to the employee. Doing so demonstrates respect for the employee and the process.
