THE INTRODUCTION

Though it might not happen often, sometimes you may be asked to introduce another speaker. For whatever reason, if you’re placed in this situation, remember a few key tips:

P    Practice Pronouncing the Speaker’s Name.

P    Give the Speaker’s Qualifications.

P    Look at the Speaker during your introduction, especially when you repeat his or her name.

P    Provide a Simple Structure such as the speaker’s name, qualifications to speak, the topic and its relevance to the audience.

P    Start the Applause and the audience will follow your lead.

P    Keep It Simple and Dignified by avoiding corny, sexist or trite expressions such as: “Here’s the best guy or gal I know…,” “Without further ado…,” “The man who needs no introduction…” ...
