PREPARATION: THE KEY

Remember the Boy Scout motto: “Always be prepared.” All public speakers should also have that same motto. Much like the pro golfer who steps up to the tee and blasts the ball hundreds of yards straight down the fairway with almost no perceptible effort, a good speaker makes it look easy. That’s the trick. However, like the golfer who practices for hours on end, you too must put in practice time— to make it look easy. Indeed, making anything look easy means tough, grueling practice that is anything but easy. So, let’s look at a regimen of training preparation to help you get your speech game into shape for the big day when you play it out in front of real, live fans.
