Second coaching conversation

Read the following example of a coaching dialogue and identify the GOLD structure used by our manager coach. Notice how the coach uses open questions exclusively, both to gather information and to stimulate more in-depth responses:

Coachee:

Our coaching session last month on how I can learn to delegate more was very helpful, although I am still having some problems. Could we review that together now?

Manager:

Absolutely. Let’s refresh ourselves on what your objective was.

Coachee:

I needed to delegate more report writing to two of my team members, to free up my own time for departmental planning.

Manager:
