‘In the sailing team if we won a race things like “high-fiving” were out. It was get the boat back, put everything away, nice and controlled, and then a race to the bar to drink huge amounts of alcohol. I found that emotionally constipated. Now, when I am with the team, I encourage them to celebrate success right away. Get the feeling out. I tell them that with our success will come relationships with each other that will last for the rest of our lives. It’s important to be open with our feelings.
