LUCK FACTOR 6 – BEING OPEN TO FEEDBACK

The way you receive feedback – particularly criticism – is essential to the growth of the Luck Habit. There is something formative and primal about the way we receive it, in particular our reaction to it, which goes back to our earliest memories. You were given feedback by parents, relatives, childminders and so on. You went through education and got lots of it. And then on to work where, if you work in conventional environments, it continues to be given from the first day through to retirement – formally in appraisal interviews and informally on an ad hoc basis from colleagues and managers. If you play sport or take part in other kinds of hobbies and leisure pursuits, you probably get lots of it too.
