What’s your point?

There is danger in this – our feelings can emotionally contaminate good decision making. But as a principle it is true that there are occasions when opportunities are so fleeting that we don’t have time for considered contemplation. Sometimes it pays to listen to your heart as well your head. When I work with groups to help them make better decisions it is interesting how many people say that these rapid decisions are sometimes among the best decisions they have ever made. And anyway it is better to act on a decision you are emotionally committed to than the rationally thought-through decision for which you feel no emotional propulsion.
