If that is all you want, that is probably all you will get. Spending 80–100,000 hours at work during your lifetime is an awfully long time to spend in pursuit of one thing. The psychologically retired do not tend to get much out of their work. Finding reasons to get out of bed in the morning will help you find meaning in your work, and open your eyes to the opportunities that your work has to offer – and that extends beyond the obvious motivators such as money. You can be psychologically retired at the age of 25 … and of course many terrific people are never psychologically retired from the world, regardless of their age.
