Could care less

We often hear someone say, "I could care less," meaning something like "I'm indifferent to the matter." That absurd expression is a corruption of the cliché couldn't care less, which means that you don't care at all so caring less would be impossible. If you're inclined to use the expression, use it correctly and say "I couldn't care less," or, as Rhett said to Scarlett, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
