As we discussed in the last section, understanding, translating, and communicating the goals of the organization is a critical part of the leadership job description. It’s the outside ring of our Three O Model. Whether you want to be the best company in your niche or the most awarded Boy Scout troop in town, it all starts with understanding (and making sure everyone else understands) what needs to be done and why.

To achieve those outcomes, you must engage your team members, including their hearts and minds. Engaging others is one place where working remotely really becomes complicated and radically different than the ways we worked before.
