Canadian-born academic and writer Henry Mintzberg (b. 1939) has written widely on a range of management subjects. In recent years he has argued against the idea that management and leadership are two separate functions:

Leadership cannot simply delegate management; instead of distinguishing managers from leaders, we should be seeing managers as leaders and leadership as management practised well.
