HOW DO I PLAY THE GAME OF ORGANISATIONAL POLITICS AND WIN?
Why it’s important: If you are going to play, you need to know what you’re doing.
I’m not suggesting that you should become involved in organisational politics. Personally I think it reduces your effectiveness as a manager. Only you can decide if you are willing to accept the risks involved. But if you are determined to play, remember that it can be a deadly affair, and to be successful requires the right mentality.
To play the game successfully you’ll need to learn a lot more about the dark arts than the strategies I’ve listed below. Check out the recommended reading at the end of the book.
