WHAT SHOULD I BE DOING AT EACH STAGE OF THE CHANGE PROCESS?

Why it’s important: You need to know the key stages of the change cycle and what people are feeling at each stage if you are to manage the process successfully.

There are almost as many change management cycles as there are writers on the subject. Based upon observation and the delivery of numerous projects my own model contains seven stages:

CHANGE CYCLE:

Disbelief: The person is convinced that there has been a mistake and that nothing will change.

Bewilderment, fear and aggression: The person finally accepts that change is coming but can’t understand why it’s required or their role in the future.

Resistance: The person digs their heels in and tries to stop, delay or change ...
