HOW CAN I HANDLE CONFLICT BETWEEN MEMBERS OF STAFF?

Why it’s important: Like grit in the oyster, a little conflict can produce wonderful results. But too much is wholly destructive.

There are a number of ways that two parties may respond to a conflict.

RESPONSES TO CONFLICT:

Ignore the problem and pretend it doesn’t exist. This results in tension and passive aggressive behaviour from both parties, leading to a lose/lose result.

Fight each other until one emerges victorious. This results in resentment on the part of the loser, and subsequent plots to get even, especially if their failure was public: a win/lose result.
