LOOKING AT WHAT I DO, WHICH STUFF ADDS THE MOST VALUE?

Why it’s important: Managers are judged on results, and the direct or indirect impact that they make to the organisation’s bottom line.

Some organisations make it very clear to managers what their priorities are. Others don’t. This question is aimed at those managers who receive limited direction from their board or bosses.

If you are selling goods or services to an external customer, you can easily identify which products contribute most to the bottom line. If your customers are other departments within the organisation, and you don’t operate as a trading centre (see Question 68), it’s a lot more difficult.
