About the Author

Dr. Mark Mobius, Executive Chairman of Templeton Emerging Markets Group, joined Templeton in 1987 as managing director of its Far East Division in Hong Kong, with responsibility for supporting the Templeton Group’s research expertise in emerging market countries. He directs the analysis for 17 global locations including Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Vietnam, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Austria, Romania, Turkey, Poland, and Russia with a total of over US$50 billion under his supervision. Dr. Mobius has spent more than 40 years working in emerging markets and has extensive experience in economic research and analysis.

He has been named one of the “50 Most Influential People” by Bloomberg Markets magazine, “Top 100 Most Powerful and Influential People” by Asiamoney magazine, “Emerging Markets Equity Manager” by International Money Marketing, “Ten Top Money Managers of the 20th Century” by the Carson Group, “Investment Manager of the Year” by the Sunday Telegraph, and “Closed-End Fund Manager of the Year” by Morningstar. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Boston University and received his Ph.D. in Economics and Political Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
