DEBATES CAN OFTEN help individuals see different sides of an issue facing you and your team. Challenging your team to debate by discussing positions at the other end of the spectrum from their natural position is an excellent vehicle for developing employees because it helps them understand multiple perspectives.

Team members who can debate all sides of an issue intellectually are apt to think more innovatively than those who view an issue in a dualistic—absolute right or wrong—manner.
