Chapter 60. Really Simple Syndication (RSS)

An RSS feed is a summary of a news story, blog post, podcast, or some other kind of informational content.

For instance, most blog software will publish an RSS feed—this is just a file that is updated on the web site whenever a new post is submitted. Anyone who knows where to get the feed can then see the title (and some or even all of the content) for that new post.

The power of RSS is in the ability to subscribe to several RSS feeds through a feed reader. This way, you have central location where you can review the summaries of all the new content from all of the RSS feeds to which you are subscribed.
