Chapter 31. Firefox Extensions

The Firefox browser has a robust extension system whereby anyone can create a small program that runs in the browser. There are thousands of add-ons of every conceivable kind (almost 8,000 as of this writing).

Here are some examples of what's available:

Grab Them All

Captures web sites as a screen capture—batch processing allows you to capture all the sites listed in a simple text file and store the images to a specified folder on your computer.

S3 Fox

Interfaces with the Amazon S3 file storage service, allowing you to upload and download files there.

Gspace

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1593

This extension allows you to use your Gmail Space (4.1 gigabytes and growing) for file storage. It acts as an online drive, so you can upload files from your hard drive and access them from every Internet-capable system.

ReminderFox (reminder utility)

PDF Download

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/636

Alerts you when you click a PDF link and gives you the option of viewing it in the browser or saving it to your hard drive.

GA? ("Google Analytics?")

Checks to see whether Google Analytics is installed on current web page.
