ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Scott Leonard, CFP®, is the owner of Navigoe, Inc., a registered investment advisor (RIA) with offices in Nevada and California. He was the sole founder and owner of Leonard Wealth Management Inc., established in 1996, as an all-inclusive wealth management firm, which became Navigoe in 2013. Scott was listed as one of the five most influential registered investment advisors for 2013.

Scott maintained his executive role at his firm during his planned three-year trip sailing from Florida to Australia, making quarterly flights to the United States for client meetings. Scott has been an instructor at UCLA Extension, teaching courses in the financial planning certificate program. He has also been an instructor and dean of the School of Investments for NAPFA University. He is a national speaker on investment, wealth management, and practice management issues. Scott is a published author, specializing in advanced investment theory, and has been the featured financial planner for the Los Angeles Times weekly “Money Make-Over” column. His analysis and opinions on advanced wealth management issues are featured in national publications, including the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Money Magazine, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance.

Scott graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree in economics. His CFP® credential was earned in 1994.
