A business/strategy book like this doesn’t just pop into existence on its own. First of all, you have to gain some knowledge about the subject matter, in this case using Lean principles to turn around any company, yourself before you can pass on what you have learned to others. In my case I was fortunate to be taught Lean by the founders of the Shingijutsu consulting company of Nagoya, Japan. Mr. Iwata, Mr. Nakao, Mr. Takenaka, and Mr. Niwa all had spent their careers at Toyota Motor Corporation with much of their time spent working directly for Taiichi Ohno, the father of the Toyota Production System. I was lucky to have learned from the best just how big a strategic impact Lean can have on any company.
