The marriage of the moving image and music is perhaps the most powerful visual communication we have. You can take almost any edited visual film sequence and change the emotion and feelings engendered by the use of music.

Music is one of the most powerful tools you have in shaping an audience’s reaction to a film. Sometimes it is one of the main things that audiences remember after leaving a film. So it is incumbent on you, as a filmmaker, to realize just how the music is affecting the audience’s comprehension of your story—both plotted and emotional—so you can keep it under your control.
