3.1. They Value People

Everybody says they value their people. I have wondered if a lot of business leaders in the United States believed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission required them to include "employees are our most valuable resource" in their annual reports. It doesn't, of course, but you couldn't fault someone for suspecting it, given the number of companies that demonstrate every day that they don't give a hoot about their people yet slap references to valuing employees where it will fit.
