This book would not be in your hands without my son Doug’s help. As with my art, I put too much into my first drafts—there’s almost enough for another book sitting in my mind and on the shelf. His understanding of my method of piling on too much, and then removing the excess, sometimes stressed his organizational skills (and made for some interesting video conferences). It’s a treat to work with someone who knows my heart and mind so well. And he was a good sport for posing for a series of the new vintage tintypes that are included in Chapter 5.
