Common Perceptions of Customer Service

I asked a number of friends and acquaintances why they thought service was where it is today. Their comments were intriguing and not surprising:

  • “These kids have no upbringing! They have no respect for anyone else and don’t put any value at all in the job they are doing.”

  • “Most of these (public) companies are so interested in the bottom line that they have cut service to the bone. As long as they are making money, they don’t care about service.”

  • “You can’t find good people anymore.”

  • “People don’t care.”

  • “There is no passion for excellence.”

These are just some of the answers I got, but they probably best reflect the perception of customer service today.
