3 Phone and SMS

Given the number of hats the iPhone wears—Internet communicator, music and video player, camera, picture viewer, personal information organizer, and… oh, yeah, telephone—you can imagine Apple’s marketing department scratching its collective head about the iPhone ad campaign.

“Best iPod ever?”

“The Internet in your pocket?”

“The mobile phone for the rest of us?”

“Room deodorizer?”

OK, maybe crossing the last one off the list was pretty easy. The point is, though, that the iPhone is far more than just a phone. But to be a success, it can’t be anything less. It must be capable of making and answering calls as well as sending and receiving text messages. And it does all that—and more, as I show you in this chapter.
