Chapter 8. Stocks, Map, Weather, Clock, Calculator, & Notes

I’ve covered the iPhone’s major areas—Phone, Mail, Safari, and iPod—as well as its most significant applications, including SMS, Calendar, Photos, Camera, and YouTube. It’s time to turn to the smaller applications, which occupy the 6th through 11th positions on the iPhone’s Home screen: Stocks, Maps, Weather, Clock, Calculator, and Notes.

If you’ve used Mac OS X, many of these applications will be familiar to you, as most of them are offered in that operating system as widgets—small applications that perform limited tasks. On the iPhone, they’re considered to be full-blown applications, even though they’re largely single-purpose programs. They work this way.
