Smart TVs and appliances are just part of the smart home of the future. Already you can control heating, cooling, lights, and alarm systems over the Internet with your smartphone; imagine a world where your home is smarter than you are and can do all of this (and more!) automatically. It’s what Nest (a company we discuss later in this chapter) calls the “conscious home,” and it’s coming your way soon.
