Books on cocoa, while not rare, are unusual. Books on the trade of cocoa are, somewhat surprisingly, infrequent within this genre. I use the word ‘surprisingly’ because, while the trade of cocoa forms the chain from farmer to factory, there is little direct and complete information on the subject. The International Cocoa Trade helps to rectify this situation by providing an overview of the history of cocoa, the factors affecting its production and consumption, the way in which the trade is conducted, how various risks are mitigated, and by whom.
