Traditionally, portfolios were for actors, models, artists, and other creative professions. But today, just about anyone, and everyone, can show his or her work.

If you are serious about treating your career like a business, then you’ll need a place on the web to show your work and build an online identity, just like every other business does. Your online portfolio may be a personal website or your LinkedIn profile, or it may be a virtual portfolio containing examples of work showcased on creative portfolio communities.
