Conclusion

At the beginning of this book we introduced you to Asha. She, like most leaders, had the best intent to move her company and herself forward. All the while, she really had not thought about all of this “diversity and inclusion HR stuff” as a way to help her reach both those goals. She came to understand that, much like building her 401K, D&I was all about the long-term strategy, and there was a lot to learn. We wanted to get you into the investment frame of mind from the start. This is what many psychologists would call priming. We wanted you to digest this book and its concepts with an eye toward how investing your time and resources in building an inclusive environment would pay dividends over time.
