7.3.1. Creating a conference with a conference factory URI

When creating a conference with a conference factory URI the conference participant generates an initial INVITE request in accordance with Section 8.10 and sets the request URI of the INVITE request to the conference factory URI.

The conference server creates a focus for the newly created conference, assigns it a conference URI and returns the conference URI in the Contact header of the 200 OK response. The URI contains an "isfocus" parameter indicating that this is a focus URI.

On receiving a 200 OK response to the INVITE request with the "isfocus" parameter indicated in the Contact header, the conference participant stores the content of the received Contact header as the conference URI. This conference URI can be used to refer other users to the conference as well as to subscribe to the conference-state event package. Figure 7.1 shows an example call flow of creating a conference using a conference factory URI.

7.3.2. Referring a user to a conference using the REFER request

When generating a REFER request that is destined to a user in order to invite that user to a specific conference, the Refer-To header of the REFER request is set to the conference URI, including the "isfocus" parameter. ...
