Karen Hough was born an improviser. She didn’t mind trying something new, she loved surprise and change, and she never saw a failure she didn’t want to turn around. When she was a senior in high school, a classmate once asked her, “Aren’t you afraid to go so far away to college?” It had never occurred to her to be afraid—only excited, and ready to jump in and play.
