Chapter Six discussed methods for developing a change. When a change is developed, how should the potential improvement from the change be evaluated before the change is implemented? How can we accelerate the learning as we test the change? How can the risk of making a change be minimized?
Jim was a supervisor in a lab. He had recently become aware of a new procedure that could be used to measure the amount of a key ingredient in a product. Another lab that used this procedure reported improvements in accuracy and time to complete the test and attributed it to the fact that the new procedure eliminated complexity.
